If you have always wanted to live on a lake but thought lake homes were few and far between, think again. Metro Oklahoma City is peppered with scores of small lake and pond communities with homes in every size and price range. For a thumbnail sketch of some of the larger lake communities in the area, see the alphabetize list below:

 Lake Aluma, northeast Oklahoma City, south off NE 63rd St., east of N Bryant...26-acre lake with some 40 acreage lots that back to the water. Some off water homes as well. Most homes built in the 1950s and 60s. Prices start at about $300 and go up quickly.
  Lake Arcadia, Arcadia, east of I-35, south off Rt. 66 (2nd St.) Lake Arcadia is not a residential lake. It is a Corps.of Engineers flood control/recreational area. Boating is allowed.
  Beacon Hill, northwest Oklahoma City, west off Rockwell just north of NW 102nd St.  Beacon Hill is actually the east side of Eagle Lake. Homes built in the late 1980s and early 1990s on nice sized lots. 
  Bear Creek Estates, between Edmond and Guthrie, at the southeast corner of Forrest Hills Rd and Post Rd, (from I-35 take either Waterloo Rd or Sewared Rd, east to Douglas, then either north or south to Forrest Hills Rd.)...New addition of acreage lots, 16 of which back to water. Lot prices range from $37,000 to $47,500.
  Blue Heron Lake, Harrah, east of Luther Rd. off northeast 63rd St... Acreage lots with newer construction.
  Blue Lakes, far northwest Oklahoma City, take NW Expressway past HY 4 (Piedmont), then south on Frisco Rd. 2 miles to addition to the west...Most homes on 5 acre lots around 2 small, blue lakes. A few off water houses.
 Blue Stem Lake, northwest Oklahoma City, at the northwest corner of W Hefner Rd. and N MacArthur Blvd... The addition contains 370 homes, only 56 of which actually back to water. Price ranges for the lake homes vary from approximately $250,000 to $600,000. Learn more at www.bluestemlake.com.
 Briarcreek, northwest Oklahoma City, entrances north off Britton Rd. and east off N. Rockwell.
 Bridgewater, The Lakes At, Edmond, new development at Santa Fe just south of Danforth... 8 acres of lakes with park, fountains and waterfalls. 18 lake lots, a few still available. Home prices from $300,000.
 Brookhaven/The Pines, northwest Oklahoma City, north of Twin Lakes Gun Club off N MacArthur and south of the NW Expressway.
 Canyon Lakes, northwest Oklahoma City, east off Council, south of Memorial...New OKC lake subdivision featuring a 12 acre lake, club house and pool. Phase I lot offering in October 2005 featured 63 lots, 18 of which overlook the lake. Lot prices ranged from $49,500 to $79,000. Minumum sqftage is 3200 sqft. for water lots and 2800 for off water lots. Addition being developed by Bridgeport Development Group.  Cedar Lake, southwest of El Reno.

 Chisholm Lake, west central Edmond
 Chisholm Creek Estates, Edmond
 Cobblestone, northwest Oklahoma City, north of NW 122nd, west off N Council...Two gated areas with water homes at the western most edge of the addition. Construction began in mid-1990s and continues through 2007. Prices start around $300,000 and up.
 Coffee Creek, north central Edmond, between Covell and Coffee Creek Rds., east of Santa Fe...A one-square mile PUD, golf course community with 7 ponds/water features. Construction began in  mid 1990s and continues through 2006.
 Crystal Gardens, northwest Oklahoma City, south of Memorial, east of Rockwell... Gated area of patio homes with a few backing to a small neighborhood pond and greenbelt area. Developed in the late 1990s.
 Crystal Lake, southwest Oklahoma City, north of SW 15th St. between MacArthur and Rockwell. This lake is owned by Oklahoma City and not a residential lake.
 Eagle Lake, northwest Oklahoma City,west of N Rockwell, south off W. Hefner Rd. on Mantle Dr. Homes on the west and north sides of the lake are part of Eagle Lake Addition. Homes on the east and south sides of the lake are considered part of Beacon Hill Addition.
 Eastridge, Norman 
 Falcon Lake,  north Piedmont 
 Fox Lake, east central Edmond, west of I-35, north off SE 15th St... One of the larger lake communities in Edmond. Lake construction done mostly in the 1980s and early 1990s. Off water homes share use of 20 acre lake and the community pool/greenbelt 
 Fox Run, northwest Oklahoma City, west off MacArthur on Galic Glenn, north of NW 122nd...These homes back to Westlake. Some of the more affordable lake properties in the area starting around $100,000.
 Four Lakes, Blanchard
 Glen Eagles, south Edmond, southeast corner of N Western and SW 150th, entrances off both Western and 150th.
 Guthrie Lake, Guthrie  
 Lake Hefner, northwest Oklahoma City, west of the Hefner Parkway, between NW 70th St. and W. Hefner Rd...This 600+ surface acre lake is part of the Oklahoma City water supply and is not a residential lake. Boating is allowed and there is a marina for boat storage. 
 Lake Hiwassee, Arcadia, east of I-35 7 miles, south 1 mile on Hiwassee...Gated 176-acre lake community. Largest residential lake community in the metro area. Skiing is allowed, but no personal water craft (jet skis).
 Hidden Valley, Choctaw, north of SE 15th between Hiwassee and Henny...Gated community of 13 homes around 1 acre pond. Homes built in late 1990s and early 2000s.
 Hilltop Lakes, Moore
 Kingsridge VII, south Oklahoma City
 Lahoma, south Mustang, south off Hwy 152,
 Lake Point Estates,  southeast Mustang
 Lakeridge, southwest Oklahoma City, off either SW 104th or May Ave. 1990s and early 2000s construction on a series of canals
 Lakeside, northeast Oklahoma City, northeast corner of Hefner Rd. and Air Depot, east of I-35. New 23 acre ski lake with ski ramp. 56 homesites on 1 to 2 acre lots. Only a handful back to the lake. Lots start at $100,000.
 Lansbrook, northwest Oklahoma City, west of N MacArthur, south of W Britton Rd. Two entrances west off MacArthur and one south off Britton Rd. Lansbrook lake is about 20 surface acres. Developed in the 1960s and 1970s.
 Lost Lake, Yukon,  S. 23rd and Britchlen. Acreage lots around a small pond.
 Mulholland, southeast Edmond, south east corner of Pennsylvania and Danforth...Homes run between $500,000 to over $1 million.
 Northlake, northwest Oklahoma City, between 122nd and Memorial, west of MacArthur...Gated area developed in the mid- to late 1990s with smaller homes on small pond and creek area.
 Northwood Lake, southwest Piedmont, west of HY 4 between Northwood Lake Rd (Cemetary Rd.) and Frisco Rd., north of Northwest Expressway. 110 acre lake with acreage lots. Motor boating and skiing is allowed. Off water homes also have use of the lake.
 Prairie Lake Estates, Cashion, from Waterloo and County Line, west to Sara Rd., north 1 mile to Simmons, west on Simmons to Prairie Lake Estates... New construction area on acerage lots.
 Oak Brook II, Edmond
 Oakmond, southwest Edmond
 Oakwood, Choctaw, south of SE 15th between Westminister and Anderson.
 Out of Bounds, northwest Oklahoma City,  north off NW 63 Street at Villa, on edge of Oklahoma City Golf and Country Club.
 Lake Overholser, northwest Oklahoma City
 Quail Creek/Brown’s Lake, northwest Oklahoma City
 Quail Lake Estates, Mustang
 Regal Lake, northwest Oklahoma City, northeast corner of W. Britton and N. Rockwell with entrances off both Britton & Rockwell
 River Bend Estates, northwest Oklahoma City,  ½ mile south of Wilshire, west off Council...Originally started in early 1990s with three man-made H-shaped lakes with about 50 homes on each one. Recently opened two more lakes to the west with new construction underway. Lots still available. River Bend also has a 34-acre park.
 The Lakes at Bridgewater--see Bridgewater.
 The Meadows at River Bend, northwest Oklahoma City, ½ mile west of Council, south off Wilshire...The Meadows is just to the north of River Bend and contains one lake. Homes here tend to be smaller than River Bend, mostly 1600 to 2100 sqft. New construction still available.
 Rivendell, southwest Oklahoma City, entrance off SW 119th and May, one mile from I-44.
 Silver Lake, northwest Oklahoma City, entrances off both W. Britton Rd and N. MacArthur Blvd...This area containing both Silver Lake and Willow Lake, is bounded by Britton Rd., on the south, MacArthur Blvd. on the east, South Shore Dr., and the Ski Island subdivision to the north, and the Briarcreek subdivision on the west. There are about 83 homes that back to water in Silver Lake. This addition contains some 1 to 3 acre lots as well as some very small lots on Harbor Drive. 
 Ski Island Lake, northwest Oklahoma City, covering the southwest corner of W Hefner Rd. and N MacArthur Blvd...There are four entrances into the addition, two off McArthur (Eastlake and South Shore) and two off Hefner (Admiral and Dorothy). Ski Island is a 56-acre-lake with 132 homes that back to water. This is the largest of 16 residential bodies of water running along Spring Creek in northwest Oklahoma City, and it is the only one of the 16 that you can actually ski on.  Shadow Lake, far northwest Edmond, north of Waterlou, east off N Santa Fe.
 South Lake, southeast Edmond
 Southerly Farms, north Edmond, at the northeast corner of Pennsylvania and Coffee Creek... Addition features a string of several small ponds. A few construction lots still available.
 Sportsman's Club, northwest Oklahoma City, north of 39th St. Expressway, west of Portland...Recreational/social club with no residential homes on the water.
 Sportsman’s Lake Estates, Edmond, north off NW 192nd between County Line and Council.
 Stone Valley Ranch, northeast Edmond, at the southeast corner of Waterloo and Midwest Blvd. Enter on Valley Ridge off Midwest Blvd... Newer construction area with water properties overlooking a beautiful valley with 3 small ponds. Addition was site of Parade of Homes in 2004.
 Stonebridge Estates, east Yukon/west Bethany, just north of Lake Overholsher.
  Summerfield/The Arbors, northwest Oklahoma City, south off NW 122 between Meridian and MacArthur. A dozen or more townhomes with a few one-story condos that back to a small lake/stream area.
  Summit Lakes, eastern Norman, at 24th and Alamdea.Newer construction begun in mid-1990s and continuing.
 Twin Lakes, Moore, 1/2 mile south of SE 149th and Sooner on east side of Sooner...New construction on acreage lots.
 Twin Lakes Gun Club, northwest Oklahoma City, west off N MacArthur Blvd. between NW 68 and Twin Lakes Rd.
 Turtle Lake, south Oklahoma City,west of Sooner Road, south of SE 149th St. Gated new construction area with a small pond.
 Walnut Ridge Estates, Edmond
 Warwick Estates/Spring Creek, northwest Oklahoma City, north of 122nd, west of McArthur. Warwick Estates has a 6 acre pond with homes backing to it from Kingswick and Old Harwick Rd.
 Wellington Lakes, southwest Norman, south side of Hwy 9 between 36th and 48th...New gated acreage addition with 1 and 2 acre home sites. Minimum sqft.for homes is 1750. Community has 10-acre lake with fishing dock. Noble schools. Landmark Fine Homes is the developer. Call Linda for more information.
 Westlake/Northlake, northwest Oklahoma City, west off MacArthur between NW 122 and Memorial.
 Westlake/Fox Run, northwest Oklahoma City, west off MacArthur on Gaelic Glenn between NW 122 and Memorial.
 Westport West, west Yukon
 Willow Lake, northwest Oklahoma City, north off Britton between MacArthur and Rockwell...5 acre body of water that most people associate with Silver Lake, but it is actually a separate lake with its own homeowners' association. Some of the homes that back to water from the west are actually located in Briarcreek Addition.
 
 Additionally, there are many smaller ponds that support only a few homes, or golf course lots that overlook course water features. While you may not be able to fish or boat on these bodies of water, they still add a nice ambience to your home and support bird and animal life you might not get on a regular addition lot.
